R E S E A R C H A C T I V I T I E S UCSF Specialized Center of Research (SCOR) Meet Our Research Team UCSF Specialized Center of Research (SCOR), under the direction of Dr. Jeanette Brown, is one of only 10 funded centers in the U.S. supported by the National Institutes of Health and Office of Research on Women's Health. The focus of the UCSF SCOR is on urinary incontinence and lower urinary tract function in women. It provides the organizational structure to further develop and support multi-disciplinary, collaborative research projects from both basic and clinical investigators. The UCSF SCOR includes researchers from the Departments of Obstetrics, Gynecology, and Reproductive Sciences, Urology, Epidemiology, Medicine, Surgery, Geriatrics, and Family Medicine. The "bench to bedside" collaborative research paradigm facilitates direct translation of scientific results to improved patient care. The SCOR investigators have been highly productive, with investigators receiving grant support through seven NIH grants and multiple intra- and extra-mural awards. The investigators have published many research studies related to urinary tract function in leading journals and have been invited members on numerous NIH, World Health Organization and international committees. Our UCSF SCOR, the Women's Urologic Research Center provides an efficient mechanism for development and completion of collaborative, multi-institutional, multi-disciplinary research, enhancing the productivity of investigators to improve the understanding of the natural history and prevention of incontinence and provide information for the development of novel treatments for female urinary incontinence.
