McKinley Art Solutions and the UCSF National Center of Excellence in Women's Health are pleased to present this season's SERENITY Art Exhibit, Serenity:VISIONS.
The public is invited to a free reception for the artists on Wednesday, November 6th, 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. The exhibit is open for viewing Monday – Friday, 10:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m., through January 14, 2014.
Each of the artists selected for this exhibit were chosen by curator Matt McKinley based on the unique aspect of 'serenity' portrayed in their work.
Helen S. Cohen, exhibiting on Floor 3, finds bliss in mark making and the relationship between colors and spaces built up and revealed over multiple layers creating unexpected results.
Floor 4 artist Judith Juntura Miller believes our connection to nature is the key to harmony.
Bold, pure hues define the portal to peak happiness for Floor 5 artist Tama Greenberg.
Blazin's artwork shows the universe as a playground, with her collection of work on Floor 6 illustrating 'serenity' as freedom of movement throughout the universe.
Artist Kit Cameron, showing on floor 7, uses the tropical beauty of Hawaii as inspiration for relaxation.
With the understanding that wellness is a holistic ideal, these artists create work that will enrich the environment of the Women's Health Center in order to engage and uplift visitors and staff alike. The exhibit covers 5 floors of the Women's Health Center: 3, 4, 5, 6 and 7, which each artist displaying a complete body of work on their respective floor.
About the 'Serenity' series at UCSF:
Since 2007, UCSF Center of Excellence and McKinley Art Solutions have presented artists whose work inspires 'serenity' in order to facilitate relaxation, well-being and calm. This quarterly exhibit, curated from a pool of invited and juried participants, is the largest continuous show in the Bay Area focused on promoting the healing capacity of art.
The venue, UCSF Women's Health Center, the only nationally designated Center of Excellence in Women's Health in Northern California, is recognized internationally for its expertise in providing comprehensive, specialized care for women's health issues and is recognized as one of the top hospitals in the nation for gynecological care.
